spent another 30 minutes looking through deadsimplesites today and this site is really good too. the audio on the width slider is a really nice touch, and the UI/UX is really memorable even though its just one page.
inspiration
spent a lot of time scrolling on deadsimplesites.com to find good personal sites/portfolios, and this one stood out the most. lots of attention to detail and the site is able to maintain a sense of uniqueness/brand even though it has a lot of different pages & information.
random but interesting
Instagram is the best app because you can usually easily find more curated work from the original artist. Pinterest and Tumblr you might be able to find some inspiration but it’s like looking for a diamond in a rough on there. I just try to find things that look different from things that have already been done; many people have already made realistic paintings, many people have done landscape paintings, etc. I try to find things that are novel or extremely hard to do correctly. I also think 50% of “normal” / conventional art mediums are boring visually, without trying to take away from the talents of those who create it, it’s just not for me. Generally if you see something that has never been done before and is “new” to you visually, you are more likely to be inspired by it, so I only try to send/curate things that are not so commonplace.
